You may or may not know this, but our beautiful model this week is actually the creator & owner of Black Girl Sunscreen! If you've been with us for the past couple of weeks, then you already know that we've collaborated with BGS and this past week we just launched our youtube series with Shontay! We were able to sit down with her and hear a little bit about her drive behind her company! Black Girl Sunscreen was made with the person of color in mind especially women of color within the beauty industry. What inspired Shontay to start BGS was beauty in diversity. Growing up with family and friends from different ethnic and racial backgrounds along with the love for outdoors such as getting fresh air, hiking, walking her dog, and going to the beach, Shontay started Black Girl Sunscreen. Understanding that women of color are limited and very underwhelmed with the amount of products for their skin complexion, she created a sunscreen that is weightless, ultra-sheer, fragrance free that contains melanin reinforcing SPF 30 that would not only moisturize but also empower everyday women to have fun in the sun. This is a product unlike any other in the beauty market because not only does it have natural ingredients like carrot seed oil, jojoba oil, almond oil, and shea butter that benefits the skin but it does so without leaving white residue on the skin or as we know it: leaving the skin looking "ashy"af. Here at Andie & AJ, we love standing behind female business owners and local entrepreneurs, so our collaboration with Shontay isn't about us, but it's about all of us growing together as a community of people supporting one another and spreading the message of inclusion for everyone. So, with that being said, let's talk about Shontay's outfit!

The IT-dress at the moment; the universally flattering dress that every woman needs to have in their closet: the wrap dress. The wrap dress came from the brilliant mind of Diana Von Furstenberg in the 70s and it revolutionized the way women wore dresses in the fashion industry. The wrap dress eventually became a symbol of femininity, women’s freedom, and was made for the self-assured empowered woman who needed something practical, elegant, sensual, and classy all in one step item. This dress is one that suits A L L body types, for all women, and for all events. Date night? Wrap dress. Graduation? Wrap dress. Brunch with the girls? Wrap dress. The wrap dress is so versatile and easy to work with! From cotton or silk; spaghetti straps to long sleeves; from mini to maxi lengths; from bold solid colors to bold patterns—there is a plethora of different styles and ways of wearing a wrap dress that will fit and cater to your own style and self-expression! To put it in a nutshell: the wrap dress is one that flows over your body and hugs your natural curves—it’s a dress that will enhance your most beautiful assets and at the same time conceal what needs to be hidden away.
The best part about the wrap dress is that it’s so easy to style! You basically just wrap it around you and it goes with just about everything.
The mid-length classical wrap dress can be styled with a pair of ankle strapped stiletto heels .
The short-length wrap dress can be dressed up or dressed down! For a more laid back and casual look, you can pair it with flats, sandals, and even a pair of fresh kicks.
The long-length wrap dress can be used for more formal outings whether that be a wedding, a formal dinner, or even for the holidays! For the cooler temperatures, layering is perfect and it can be styled with a blazer, leather jacket, peacoat, or a fur coat!
If you need anymore convincing, we'll let the pictures below speak for itself. We promise you, that by the end of this blog, you'll be on the prowl for your very own wrap dress that will be perfect for YOU.
