D A Y - G L O

Wearing n e o n can be a bit tricky but it's not impossible. Our goal here at A + A is to help you shop wiser and dress smarter yet within that challenge you to try new things. So here we are with S E L E NA rocking a chic, fluorescent look that is the perfect balance of edgy and sexy. As we walk through her look, we're going to share tips on how you can dress bright without looking too extra. Let's get started...

1. Start small. Sometimes just a flash of color is all you need. If you want to go neon, try a little at a time.

"Whether you opt for a bright pink skinny belt, an electric blue clutch or an armful of bangles in an eye-popping hue, adding a small dose of something bright to your everyday look makes neon less daunting. Subtlety is key where this trend is concerned and small pops of vibrant hues are a great way to spice up your wardrobe."

2. Accessorize.

The easiest way to add neon to your look is with accessories. Like we mentioned above, a little goes a long way. You won't want to over-do it.

3. Black. Cream. Blush. ...go neutral.

Try styling with neutral colors (like S E L E N A) as a way of highlighting your neon element. In this case, we kept her look minimal by sticking with 1-2 colors and using 1 different material (sheer top) to add dimension and texture to her look. Surprisingly this also served as a comfort factor. Going with a sheer top here in SoFlo is a win with our weather. Wearing bright neon with sleek black clothing and accessories not only creates fantastic contrast, but also makes for a daring look that's sure to get you noticed (College Fashion).

4. Check Yourself. Neon pieces tend to enlarge your figure so with that in mind it's important to dress strategically.

"Wear a total-neon outfit only if you have a lean body with no curves, otherwise it will just emphasize your flaws, but also if you don’t have a straight body you can still use some neon colors to help you balance out your proportions. For instance, if you are top-heavy, go for a neon skirt or a pair of neon pants, whereas if you are bottom-heavy choose a neon top that will enlarge your bust and mid-section."

5. Try bold.

We've covered being neutral but for those who want to go bold, try pairing neon pieces with each-other O R styling with neon patterns.

6. Cosmetics.

"Neon eyeliner? Get it now. Not only were neon eyes all over the Spring 2014 runways, but we saw them during Fall 2013 Fashion Week, too. It's a daring look, so it hasn't been overdone by the masses yet. I'm envisioning a plummy fall lip color paired with a tiny streak of yellow just above the lashes — or a bare face, black nails, and the tiniest streak of electric green on your eyes, giving you a subtle witch, revisited vibe."
