This awe-inspiring, aspiring model catches eyes while she blazes trails, and she knows it. No, no not conceited---c o n f i d e n t making her perfect for what we stand for. Her optimism and mellow vibes lead her daily as she focuses on spending her days kicking back and enjoying every day she’s got. We loved shooting with her as she inspired and lifted our spirits with every look we put together (yes, we did more than 1) but today's look is focused on fall fashion and easy tips for you to take to back to your closet. Let's get started...
It’s that time of year when boots and booties come out, lattes are in hand, and our winter clothes start gossiping about when they’ll be next. Fall is our favorite time of year, the fashion options skyrocket with the mix of sunny days and chilly nights by the fire. Our wardrobes work their muscles as we mix and match into this fabulous Fall transition and if you ask us, layering is the epitome of Fall - whether it’s with your summer cami over a demure turtleneck, a chunky sweater over a silky strappy dress, or lace tights paired with woolen socks in some patriarch crushing combat boots. Since we’re in Florida, and Miami the city of endless summer we’re left with fewer options than you may have wherever you may be around the world. But no lie, things can get chilly pretty quick (for us, at least) and any true Miami girl has a wardrobe prepared to fight the “cold”.
Selenas’ wardrobe was no exception and once we got hands on we realized that she had a great mix of essentials and trendy items. We don’t think we’ve ever seen her wear the same thing twice on her instagram and seeing her closet showed us why. We were able to pair down the many options by sticking to a fall palette filled with warm jewel tones - the kind that make you feel all fuzzy inside like sunset yellow and burnt sienna. No matter the year these colors always walk down the Fall Fashion Week runways - they are a tried and true staple of the season. Nothing is more neutral than black so we opted to match her off the shoulder sweater with a stark “I-may-look-warm-and-inviting-but-don’t-mess-with-me” jumpsuit that went great with her lace ankle strap sandals. Her 60s inspired shades were an added touch of playfulness and mystery that shows she doesn’t play and neither does her wardrobe.
So what are our tips for you?
Shades: What's your face shape? Is your face round?Try square frames to compliment. Square shaped? Circular is your friend. However, Aviators and Wayfarers look good on almost everybody.
Off-the-Shoulder: These tops can easily fit any body type. Our tip for you is to accessorize. For example, while I would go with minimal accessories, AJ and Andie said they would probably pair statement earrings. With Selena, we decided to pair her shades but the possibilities are endless.
Jumpsuit: Jumpsuits can be intimidating at first but if you ask us, with the right tips and search anyone can find one. When shopping for a jumpsuit consider what your needs are. Are you after a casual jumpsuit to wear during the day or something more formal for an evening look? Do you need long sleeves to combat cold weather or will a strapless style help you beat the heat? Once you know your requirements, you can start focusing on the details. In general, styles that are fitted at the waist and then looser on the legs tend to be the most flattering. If you are tall, wide leg jumpsuits that finish just above the ground will be highly complimentary. If you are vertically challenged, you may want to opt for a slim, cropped style instead to avoid looking swamped in fabric. Click here to read more from our source.
Ankle-Strap Sandals: Selena shared that her legs were one of her favorite features and we completely agreed. So with that in mind, we focused on styling in a way that would compliment and expose her legs in a new way. She loved this look and her heels were the perfect way to sprinkle a little sexiness onto her completed outfit. Our tip for you is to get a pair if you don't have them and if you do, thank you because you're one step closer to a "smarter" wardrobe.
Challenge: Be confident. This week we want to challenge to simply try one of the tips above. Go back and make sure you're wearing the "right" kind of shades.
