Meet Simone.

Before we get started, can we just all agree that Simone is absolutely slaying in this outfit? Simone is an aspiring make-up artist who works full time at Ulta and desires to open up her own makeup bar for women of all skin tones where they can feel special and attended to. Basically, she's just one of the many women out there that exemplifies true #blackgirlmagic and it was an honor for us to work alongside of her. So, let's get started on this queen's outfit.

Matching sets are a must have this year and they’re a trend from the 60s & 70s that refuses to go away! Kim Kardashian is one example of a woman who is known for living in matching sets, whether it’s in a pencil skirt and a crop top or a plunging neckline top with a pair of fitted shorts, she absolutely slays the look. Another example is Taylor Swift who has been spotted numerous amounts of times by paparazzi in matching floral and striped sets and has even been coined with being the queen of matching sets. Today’s fashion trends are basically the 70s, 80s, & 90s reloaded: matching sets, high waisted shorts, graphic tees, high slits, plunging necklines, mini skirts, chunky platform shoes, and disheveled hair!

But what’s so great about matching sets is that they’re so versatile and can be pulled off in any season, they’re great for any occasion, and can be styled in so many creative ways! They can be worn in a sophisticated look or in a street style chic way: whether it’s with a skirt and a boxy top, or a bustier with shorts, or trousers paired with stiletto heels and a matching blazer jacket: the possibilities are endless. The best thing about matching sets is that there are no limits and no styling boundaries because any length can go with any cut, slouchiness and looseness go together, and it can be polished and chic and still have a touch of street style infused into one look.

Let’s talk about shoes and the transparent heel! Granted, the clear heel was showcased in major runway shows like Dior and Yeezy during fashion week in 2016 however, we know that there was once upon a time where many within the fashion industry wouldn’t even utter the words “plastic” and “heel” together in the same sentence. And yet, here we are, in the year 2017 where transparent heels, boots, and sandals are now being worn by models, fashionistas, and celebrities everywhere and we have the Mrs. Kim Kardashian West to blame (jk) thank for that. However, don’t knock it until you try it. So if Simone wasn’t enough to convince you otherwise that you can transparent heels are anything but tacky or outdated, to inspire you otherwise, sit back, relax, and please enjoy the slideshow below:

Lastly, let's talk handbags! For Simone's outfit, we went with a classic black leather Chanel purse. We definitely believe that all women need to have a black purse that can be worn with any outfit in their closet! Anything black i.e. a little black dress, black scrappy heels, a black blazer, black skinnies, black leather jacket etc. is a must have, they're essentials! However, that's not to say that you can't go for that colorful yellow purse or those orange high heels! When it comes to accessories, try to think outside of the box! Go for that patterned clutch or for those earrings that wouldn't be your first choice! Mix and match with your accessories and try to utilize those items in your closet that you haven't worn in a while! Don't be afraid of statement items! Go out there, be bold, be empowered, and be unapologetically you!
