Johan, Andie, and I connected through Instagram. He's an up and coming model and we just loved his aesthetic but even more, his talent. That being said, from his curly hair, to his tall physique, and edgy facial features, Johan has very unique attributes and therefore perfect for our vision. We wanted to give him a look that would both compliment his personal style so today we're going to share a few fun facts, talk about each piece he's wearing, and provide you with a few tips on how you can achieve his look!
Saucony (pronounced sock-uh-knee) is a shoe brand that most only recognize from its distinct logo or design and has been around since 1898 and Johan's kicks were simply a throwback touch to his look. In addition, we paired his sneaks with a pair of ankle socks and decided to place pins for an added touch of style. Now we wouldn't say doing this is necessary, but it is a fun and unique way to "dress-up" your socks or even a new way to put use to pins. Pins are trending and most commonly seen on jackets, backpacks, etc. but as always, we just want to get your creativity flowing and showcase new ways to use your resources.
Fun fact: the word Saucony comes from the Lenni Lenape Native American word “saconk,” meaning “where two rivers run together.” Inspired by the original location on the Saucony Creek, this brands logo represents a running river marked by three boulders.
Next we have Johan's shorts; simply put he's got on your basic knee length shorts. We don't have a tip here but rather a reminder to check your closet(s). More often than not, we find ourselves having items that fit the top but aren't the right length or fit past the knees. So what can you do? Well in the words of O.T. Genasis, "you need to CUT IT!" We've got two great tutorials below that we found on how to distress your jeans and make them into shorts. After watching, take a look at what you have and see what creative (and sustainable) things you can start doing with your denim.
Lastly, we want to cover Johan's shirt, bomber, and accessories. We chose a basic tee for this look because we wanted to keep things light and casual but most importantly, easy. Our goal is to develop looks based off of apparel that we believe most of our readers already have. Most of us know that camouflage first debuted within our armed forces yet has made its way to fashion and style as a trending print. Today, we've got a few tips specifically on how to style this print. First, camo is a very masculine print however metallics can easily accentuate your look whether you're wearing a bomber, top, or pants. In this case, we decided to pair Johan's bomber with a classic Casio and his faux hoop nose ring. Second, our advice is to add color. Camo pairs well with black, white, and other neutrals (even denim!) , adding color helps soften your look and add a fun element. Our third and last tip is to only wear one camo piece at a time. You won't want to over do it, so we advise limiting yourself to one printed piece for each outfit in order to keep an appeal.

Challenge: Johan is just like you, so this week we're encouraging our readers to get creative with camoflauge. Check your closet first and see what pieces you have and think of new ways to style with our tips. We also want to mention looking for any denim that you want to try turning into shorts. Be inspired and share your creativity with us by using the hashtag #andieandaj on Instagram or Facebook! We're also on Pinterest and Tumblr now but be sure to check out some testimonials and our first YouTube video below for a closer look at our process with
