Meet Henry.

Before we introduce you to Henry, we wanted to take the time to thank everyone from the bottom of our very hearts for supporting us, for reading our blog, and for sharing our page! We’ve almost reached our seventh month mark and we hope that we continue to inspire you guys as much as you inspire us! We are so excited for what’s to come and we are looking forward to creating more outfits and meeting more people! Here’s to the next six months and thank you for hanging with us!

Now without further ado, we present to you: Henry Cedeño. One of the biggest blessings about having this blog is that it gives us a platform to reconnect with old friends. AJ and I have known Henry now for a couple of years and not only have we shared many laughs with him but we’ve created many memories with him as well. For those of you who don’t know Henry, Henry is an international Zumba instructor and choreographer. He specializes in creating different types of choreographies to four different rhythmic styles per month. He then travels the world and teaches these choreographies at conferences, conventions, and in classrooms. With that being said, let’s move on to his outfit!

The outfit that we created for Henry is giving us major 60 & 70s vibes with a modern twist! The outfit is made up of a tie-dye t-shirt, a pair of black ripped skinny jeans, an olive green bomber jacket, a pair of beige boots, and mirrored sunglasses. First, let’s talk about tie-dye! Tie-dye always brings back fond memories of the classic hippie era of unwashed long hair, Woodstock, peace signs, denim jackets, bell-bottoms, and flower crowns. Tie-dye is known for its tedious process that requires a lot of folding and twisting of different garments with rubber bands and different colored dyes. During its peak, tie-dye was characterized by the use of bright colors in a rainbow spiral and bold patterns with the peace sign.

But today, tie dye carries a refreshing look that has more of a bohemian essence to it. Many contemporary designers are integrating tie-dye within their collections with a more of a monochromatic way paired with modern materials. What does this mean exactly? Well, if you observe stores like Free People, Urban Outfitters, or any other boutiques, tie-dye is no longer consisted of bright neon colors, but rather it’s replaced with contemporary and seasonal colors. Rather than having a rainbow of colors, the color scheme is now made up of one or two-shades that carries more of a polished look that allows for you to get your basic colors in any top, dress, or accessory. Also, when it comes to the material of many of these pieces, rather than it being just your basic t-shirt material, they have more of a flowy, sophisticated, and modern fit to it.

Tips: We did the research so that you guys wouldn’t have to! Here are basic some tips and tricks that we found on the world wide web that you want to keep in mind if you’re planning on doing your own DIY project at home

  1. There are many different methods that you can use to achieve that pattern that you want with the color scheme that you, but using zip ties, rubber bands, and string is the most common way to achieve the common spiral tie-dye pattern

  2. Natural fabrics such as 100% cotton shirts, rayon, or silk will retain and hold the dye better which will lead to the colors looking brighter and lasting longer

  3. You’re also going to want to pre-wash anything that you plan on dyeing to remove any dirt and for the sake of sizing. Also, if you do pre-wash, there is no need to dry because you’re going to want the material to be damp when you tie and dye

  4. When you’re doing this, whether you’re handling dye or bleach, make sure you have a pair of gloves on and that you’re doing this outside

  5. If you don’t want a specific pattern, a great way to achieve this is by using a spray bottle and spraying the fabric randomly with either bleach or dye

Next, let’s talk skinny jeans and bomber jackets. When it comes to skinny jeans for men, you either love them or you hate them. Some men think that they are emasculating and other men think that wearing skinny jeans makes them look like teenagers. But like everything in life, we think that approach is what matters and that skinny jeans are more than capable of being dressed up. For our handsome male readers, we would love to point out that: wearing skinny jeans will not make you any lesser of a man than when you wear a boot cut pair of jeans! So, fight against these sexist ideologies that say that you are a lesser of a man if you do you do x, y, z because wearing a certain kind of pants or jeans does not determine who you are as a person. With that being said, keep in mind that it’s all about the fit and the proportions of your body. Everybody’s body is different and different types of cuts will look different depending on the body type. Also skinny jeans don’t have to cut off your circulation, there are straight cut jeans as well that will look great for any occasion. You can read more tips here and read our tips on how to rock skinny jeans with shoes with Kody.

We’ve already talked about bomber jackets with Abby, however we can’t get enough of them! Bomber jackets are the perfect essential item are so versatile because of its variety of textures, colors, and styling options. They can be made up of lightweight cotton that is perfect for spring and summer or they can be made of suede and leather for those harsh colder seasons. When choosing a bomber jacket, you want to keep in mind how it fits the shoulders. There should be no creasing around the shoulder blades when your arms are by your side and if there is, then it’s probably too tight. Also, the sleeves of the bomber should end on or right above your wrist bone. For more helpful tips including a sizing chart, check out this article from the Idle Man.

Lastly, let’s talk accessories. Sunglasses are a must for summer but we know how tricky it can be trying to find a right pair of sunglasses that fit your face and your style. The key to finding the perfect pair of shades is by figuring out the shape of your face. Thankfully for us, there's are a perfect pair of glasses that fit each shape, so whether you have a round, diamond, or heart shaped face, theres a pair that are waiting just for you! Check out this article that goes into more detail on the best sunglasses that suits each face shape.
